Twelfth Night, 6 January, is the thirteenth and final day of the Icelandic Christmas season. Icelanders bid the holidays farewell with bonfires and fireworks as the last of the thirteen Yule Lads returns to the mountains. Folklore holds that on this night cows speak, seals shed their skins, and wishing stones float to the surface of lakes.
